L’escale, port of call

At the corner of the Place des Tilleuls in La Noue-Sainte-Marie, the hotel-restaurant L’Escale has just opened with a new team at the helm. Five years after a fire that sounded the death knell of the establishment, three couples of friends backhairs have just given new life to this institution maritaise. A purchase project matured for two years by Eric and Ludivine Neveu, resulted in an association between friends. “We were not destined to work together, these are circumstances that led us to gather around this project,” says Arnaud and Huguette Landry, former owners of Loix’s soap factory.

A convergence of resources for the building cost of 500 m² and works were combined with the know-how of the 3rd couple of buyers. Indeed, Yoann Leraut, former chef of the hotel-restaurant l’Océan at Bois-Plage for fourteen years, is the culinary surety completing the triptych, so he jumped with his wife Sandrine.

Friends in life, associates from now on, everyone has found his place. In the kitchen for Yoann, the hotel with its 11 rooms for Sandrine, Ludivine ensures the administrative side, Arnaud and Huguette are the link between bar, restaurant and hotel. Éric meanwhile has kept his oyster farmer job at La Flotte and supplies Yoann with cooking in precious shellfish.

Completely renovated and arranged, the establishment tends towards a refined aesthetic “class, functional and especially without frills,” summarizes the smiling Sandrine. The new hotel and restaurant required seven months of work where local artisans have worked hard to open this end of March.

The maritais painter Catherine Le Bouill has designed a decoration on a theme “sea” marrying a stopover that is prolonged into reverie. 4 staff in the kitchen assist the chef at the control of his new pianos for a taste symphony around fish and shellfish and other discoveries. The room hosts 60 seats, the terrace 40 where two young Retétis, Tiffany and Sébastien, complete the team.

A stopover as an anchor year is emerging for the 6 captains of the adventure.
